Tysabri Infusion #2

Are these teeny flowers not beautiful? I found a beautiful tree or bush covered in these darling blossoms at the zoo the other day. SO pretty! Photography ©Ammey Kohen

I got my Tysabri Infusion done today and it went off without a hitch except for a lady in the elevator who who rudely commented to me that she …”will have to get her an electric wheelchair like mine sometime.” Boy, she is sure missing out without one! *sarcasm here* Like I wouldn’t switch places with her in a heart beat. She was one of those people who assumes that if your toes can still wiggle, you must be in a chair because you’re too lazy to walk.

I was at the Oncology Center about 2 1/2 hours. I read my Pillars Of The Earth monster of a book for awhile. My vision was frustrating to deal with so I did not read as much as I would have liked to. I even had a lovely conversation with my nurse who also has a child with Type I Diabetes. They go to the same Hospital that we do. It was a needed respite to chat about something other than my health for once.

It was a little painful to have my port used for the first time because the area is swollen and very sore. The pain was so much worse last night though! My hunny even had to help me lower my head to my pillow and to sit up last night. I just prayed that I would wake up feeling better and in less pain, and I did, so yea for me. I can imagine that in a week or so I will forget it is even there. It was awesome to not have to get stuck 3plus times for an IV today. I found myself grateful for that more than anything else today.

Last night my plans to bake my birthday cake with my daughter fell by the wayside because of how beat up I felt. Regardless, the cake my hunny got from the grocery store was delicious. The kids and I had fun playing around with each other taking pictures and I fell asleep trying to watch a movie with my hunny. Not exactly the birthday of my dreams but I was just happy to be at home last night and out of the hospital. Being there 9am - 2pm yesterday was more than I planned on.

My family got me a Pasta Maker attachment for my KitchenAid mixer, so I will be trying that out as soon as I feel up to it. I also got a really neat Honey Jar to use when I have tea, very useful and decorative as well.

So, I hope that tomorrow I wake up feeling even better, less soreness in my chest, and maybe even benefiting from todays Tysabri. Who knows?

  1. Oh, Ammey, I hope you’re feeling better now. I’m sending healing thoughts and prayers your way.

People like elevator lady drive me to drink. Of course, they always seem to make their snide comments when I’m feeling too crummy to come up with a snappy comeback.

    Cheers!

  2. Thanks for stopping by Ammey and happy belated birthday. I hope that when I start my Tysabri infusions it will go without incident. How long does the infusion take? It looks as if I am going to receive pay back. When I go to the infusion center for my Solu-Medrol after having a flare, I teased the others who were in the infusion center who had to be there hours or the whole day.

I can picture it now, when I go for my first Tysabri infusion and run into the people I use to tease. They are going to have a field day with me once they find out I will not be leaving after an hour :)

  3. Can’t wait to hear how it goes for you. HAPPY BIRTHDAY The pasta maker sounds like fun, and yummy. I LOVE spinach pasta.
